On 4th July, at 09:00 CEST, CMS will present their latest results on the search for the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson at the LHC. The presentation, which is followed by one from the ATLAS collaboration, will be in CERN’s Main Auditorium, and will be available as a public webcast. A press conference will follow (more details).
CMS has already collected more data so far in 2012 than the entire 2011 proton run, and the new results are based on the combined data samples. CMS previously ruled out the existence of the SM Higgs boson in the mass range of 127 – 600 GeV at 95% confidence level, and observed a small excess of events around a mass of about 125 GeV.
All the new CMS results will be made available on the CMS website immediately following the seminar. They will also include new event display images and animations. Stay tuned!
